Rework Specialist San Clemente, CA  

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Solder Rework Operator to perform precision soldering, rework, and repair of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA). The ideal candidate will be trained to applicable industry standards and have hands-on experience with Ball Grid Array (BGA) rework and replacement, ensuring assemblies meet stringent quality and reliability requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Perform manual soldering, desoldering, and rework of surface-mount and through-hole components in accordance with IPC and company standards.

Execute BGA rework and replacement, including:

Component removal using controlled heating methods.

Pad preparation and site cleaning.

Reballing and reinstallation of BGAs.

Profiling and inspection to ensure solder joint integrity.

Apply rework standards for solder joints, ensuring compliance with IPC-7711/7721 and IPC-A-610.

SMT (Surface Mount Technology) pad repairing damaged pads on a printed circuit board (PCB) by cleaning the area, removing the defective pad, and installing a new one using soldering and bonding techniques.

Conduct inspection and verification of reworked assemblies using AOI, X-ray, and magnification tools.

Support troubleshooting of soldering defects and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues.

Maintain accurate documentation of rework activities, including defect logs and corrective actions.

Follow ESD handling procedures and ensure compliance with safety and quality protocols.

Assist in training junior operators on soldering and rework techniques.

Qualifications & Experience:

Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent; formal training in soldering and rework techniques.

Certifications: IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and IPC-7711/7721 certification strongly preferred.

Experience:

Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on soldering and rework experience in PCBA manufacturing.

Proven expertise in BGA rework and replacement processes.

Skilled in soldering fine-pitch components, QFNs, BGAs, and other advanced packages.

Strong knowledge of soldering materials, fluxes, and rework equipment.

Familiarity with thermal profiling and controlled heating methods for rework.

Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, work instructions, and technical documentation.

Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with X-ray inspection systems for BGA verification.

Knowledge of conformal coating removal and reapplication during rework.

Familiarity with selective soldering and vapor phase reflow processes.

Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) in soldering defects.

    Job Title
    SMT Operator – 2nd Shift San Clemente, CA  
    • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot SMT equipment including screen printers, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, SPI, and AOI systems
    • Perform machine changeovers, mechanical adjustments, feeder setup, and program loading
    • Conduct offline setup and teardown of feeders and carts
    • Verify correct component placement, polarity, and setup prior to production runs
    • Interpret work instructions, assembly drawings, BOMs, and setup sheets
    • Ensure all required tooling, stencils, and fixtures are available before beginning setup
    • Monitor production for defects and take corrective action as needed
    • Perform basic machine maintenance and escalate technical issues to Engineering or Maintenance
    • Support first article inspections and process validation activities
    • Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
    • Train and assist SMT Operator I team members as needed
    • Follow ESD, safety, and quality procedures at all times
    • Work overtime as required to meet production schedules

    Job Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Prior contract manufacturing experience is a plus but will train
    • Experience with component packages
    • Knowledge of machine operation of Tape and Reel and feeder loading
    • Good understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM) and Assembly Drawings
    • Fluent with SMT Package sizes and component identification
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Ability to work on multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
    • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others
    • Must be able to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs

      Job Title
      Quality Engineer San Clemente, CA  

      As a Quality Engineer, you will be a key contributor to our Quality Assurance team, responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality systems across the product lifecycle. This hands-on role includes leading audits, investigating defects, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will collaborate cross-functionally, mentor junior team members, and help deliver high-reliability electronic products.

      Key Responsibilities

      • Lead CAPA activities, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
      • Plan and conduct internal audits (ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485) and support customer and regulatory audits.
      • Coordinate and facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and disposition activities.
      • Develop, implement, and maintain quality policies, procedures, and controlled documentation.
      • Manage Document Control processes and quality system releases.
      • Support equipment and process qualification activities (IQ, OQ, PQ).
      • Create and maintain quality control plans for electronic components and assemblies.
      • Analyze production and test data to identify trends, determine root causes, and drive process improvements.
      • Investigate customer complaints and ensure timely resolution through CAPA.
      • Perform Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and utilize quality tools such as SPC and FMEA.
      • Support new product introduction (NPI) and process validation efforts.
      • Monitor supplier quality performance and conduct supplier audits as needed.
      • Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to enhance product quality and reliability.
      • Support calibration and preventive maintenance programs.
      • Train production personnel on quality standards, procedures, and best practices.
      • Prepare and present quality metrics, reports, and improvement recommendations.

      Required Skills & Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
      • 3–5 years of Quality Engineering experience within SMT or electronics manufacturing.
      • Strong working knowledge of quality methodologies including SPC, FMEA, CAPA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
      • Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 13485, auditing practices, and QMS software.
      • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
      • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor and influence others.
      • IPC-A-610 knowledge or certification preferred.
      • Demonstrated interest in career progression toward roles such as Quality Manager.

      Physical Requirements

      • Prolonged sitting and computer use in an office environment.
      • Ability to work within manufacturing areas with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
      • Visual acuity required for inspections and detailed quality checks.
      • Manual dexterity to handle small components and tools; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
